SUBCONSCIOUS
PROGRAMMING

New studies reveal a subconscious brain that is more active, image purposeful and independent than previously know

- Yale Research

Five hundred years ago, St Ignatius de Loyola realised that adults were able to shape the beliefs of young children and that these beliefs would stay with them throughout their lives. We now know that these beliefs become the subconscious programs that - unless transformed - determine our successes and failures throughout our life. Unfortunately, these subconscious programs are often disempowering and self-sabotaging. Many people are unaware that they have subconscious programs, but if they are not living their best life, it’s likely they do. Of course, people often blame their parents, but our parents are also victims - or successes - of their subconscious programming. Most parents love their children, and would be upset if they realised they were responsible for their offspring forming negative beliefs about themselves.

Your subconscious programs are not yours – they belong to other people

- Bruce Lipton, ‘The Biology Of Beliefs’

If you are unsure whether you have subconscious programs, look at your life. Your life is a print-out of your subconscious programs. Areas of your life where you find it easy to be successful indicate subconscious programs that support your conscious intentions. But if you struggle to find success, e.g. in your relationships, your job or if you struggle to make ends meet financially, or maybe you have made up your mind that you want to lose weight, stop smoking, or gambling, or any one of myriad compulsive behaviours… yet you always seem to sabotage your intention to follow through. Without doubt, the culprit will be the disempowering subconscious programs that do not support your conscious intentions. So, what can be done?

Until you make the subconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate

- Carl Jung

The traditional way of untangling the subconscious programs which fuel our self-talk and behaviour has been hypnotherapy, or one of many forms of talk-therapy. However, talk therapies can take months or years, and even then, the outcome does not always achieve the desired long-term results. And many people are wary of hypnotherapy as they resist the idea of someone else controlling their mind. Fortunately, new ways of rewriting our bothersome subconscious programs emerged following the discovery that everything in the Universe is made of energy… including our thoughts and feelings. Forward-thinking psychologists theorised that if our feelings are energy, perhaps the feelings we describe as ‘negative’ are the result of the frequency pattern of our feelings becoming trapped in our body’s energy system anytime we fail to resolve how we feel when something upsets us.

What you think about, activates a vibration within you

- Abraham Hicks – ‘Fearless Soul’

These same forward thinking psychologists came up with ways to release trapped emotional energy. Marjorie Green, founder of Hypno-Sensing, studied many of these new techniques to practitioner level. After a time, she realised that while these techniques were often excellent at releasing trapped emotional energy, the bothersome feelings which were released using the techniques, would often come back. She says, “It was only after studying the workings of our subconscious mind in greater depth, that I realised how powerful our subconscious programming is. Our subconscious mind is a creature of habit, and unless we convince it that it is our conscious intention to change how we think and feel, our subconscious mind will work tirelessly to reinstate the status quo. We have to convince it otherwise”

Once the subconscious mind accepts an idea, it begins to execute it

- Joseph Murphy, ‘The Power of your Subconscious Mind’

Marjorie knew that people would have to use the energy psychology techniques regularly if they wanted to convince their subconscious mind of their intention to think and feel differently. Unfortunately, people complained they didn’t get the same results when using the technique on their own – so they often gave up. She struggled -unsuccessfully- to find ways to make it easier for people to use the techniques on their own. She was on the point of giving up, when she had a dream that she found a solution. Next day, the details were sketchy, but she was convinced she would find a solution. Over the next 12+ years, the solution evolved into the emotional transformation technique she has called ‘Hypno-Sensing’.

In 2005, the National Science Foundation revealed that the average person has between 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day - 80% are negative, and 95% are repetitive. Most are subconscious.
